As the Assistant Group Scout Leader for 1st Long
Sutton, I would like to welcome you to our brand new
revamped website !
Scouting is well and truly alive and well in Long
Sutton, so much so that we have for the first time had
to draw up a waiting list. Over the past 4 years,
the number of children involved in the Group has more
than doubled, and Long Sutton is now the second largest
Group in the District by one member!!!
In January 2005 our old District of Holbeach joined with
Spalding District to form a new combined District of
Holbeach & Spalding. Long Sutton
is one of only
two Groups still remaining from the old Holbeach District,
and our Group has a large catchment area from the Norfolk
border in the east to the town of Spalding in the west
of the District (approx 25 miles across).
One thing that Scout Groups are always short of (and we are
no exception!) are adult helpers and leaders. We
encourage parents, friends and family of our young
people to take an active role in local Scouting, whether
this might be as an occasional helper, a regular section
supporter, a member of our Executive Committee, or a
part of our fundraising committee. Whatever time
you have to offer, we can always use more help!
